Sheila Poole (1962-1997), of Yarmouth, was a well-known and much-loved member of the running community. Although awarded many times for her athletic ability, Sheila is most remembered for her positive nature, mental toughness, and caring attitude. In dedication to a life well-lived, The Human Race 10K, held annually in Yarmouth since 1984, was renamed The Sheila Poole 10K in 1998 in memory of Sheila. This race is on the Run Nova Scotia Circuit and is part of the Timex Series. |
