ABOUT THE 1761 CUP

The 1761 Cup was presented to Yarmouth Nova Scotia from Greater Yarmouth England in 1986 on the occasion of the 225th anniversary of the first settlers coming to Yarmouth Nova Scotia. These settlers arrived in Chebogue in 1761.

During the 1986 celebrations, Mayors and representatives from Yarmouths around the world were invited to Yarmouth Nova Scotia to participate in the festivities. The Mayor of Greater Yarmouth England brought with her what is now known as the 1761 Cup to be awarded annually for a foot race being held in Yarmouth Nova Scotia. The trophy was made by the Wimpy Marine Company in Yarmouth England.
